Rewards and punishments are a rather complex matter.
First, in a BDSM context, the border between the two can be a bit fuzzy. If the slave takes pleasure in being spanked, is it a punishment or a reward?
Secondly, what is good for one slave can be bad for another one. Corner time can prove very efficient for some, and totally useless for others. So don’t expect a definite list of punishments and rewards. A good master knows his slave well and knows what punishments or rewards are good for her.
Rewards and Punishments can serve two purposes :
- Make sure the slave behave correctly
- Give pleasure to the master, or at least relieve his anger or disappointment
Punishment for serious misconduct must give no pleasure, neither to the slave, nor to the master. Indeed, this kind of sanction could stimulate the slave’s masochistic tendencies. Likewise, if I enjoy punishing you, you will be tempted to misbehave in the laudable goal to satisfy your Master.
This is an extreme example. A good slave, of course, does not want to disappoint her master.
